Sunday Night Poetry

The week has been busy - catching up with old friends and working long days on a distinct lack of sleep. I am looking forward to a slightly slower week ahead. Hopefully I won't need as many cups of coffee, though there is one particular date I am looking forward to... ahhh.
Another poem with a slow pace for a mild evening and a long, sunny day..

Happy the Man by John Dryden

Happy the man, and happy he alone,
He who can call today his own:
He who, secure within, can say,
Tomorrow do thy worst, for I have lived today.
Be fair or foul or rain or shine
The joys I have possessed, in spite of fate, are mine.
Not Heaven itself upon the past has power,
But what has been, has been, and I have had my hour.
